() Charles set it up like this, so that each eligible person has a unique logon number and possible suffix, if applicable--
The 4 digit member number is just that: 0001 through 9999 (though the CCA hasn't assigned numbers as high as 9999 yet). If you are a Regular member or Life member or even a Charter member, the 4 digit number is all you need (plus a password you'll need to create and manage).
You do NOT need to add your PREFIX (R for Regular; LM for Life Member; or CH for Charter member; or even CLM if both a Charter and Life member).
Also you do NOT add your Life member number at all, just the 4-digit portion of your member number.
BUT ... there's also Associate members that typically are spouses or children of the member and that typically live at the same household address. Each one is given a unique SUFFIX, starting with the letter A. Example, my wife is an Associate member, so her logon would be my 4 digit number plus an "A" in the Associate box. If I had kids (I don't, but...) say Johnny and Suzie, their Associate numbers would be my member number plus "B" or "C". You get the idea.
Of course, Associate members aren't automatic. You need to register them separately and pay $7 per year per Associate member for dues.
I guess Charles added alphabetic options up to "M" in case a member had a huge number of Associates, though I'm not aware of anywhere near that many Associates in any single member's family.
Makes sense?
