The Holiday Hotel was one of my favorite places in the 70s.
I remember playing the old mechanical Pace machines that
had signs on them stating “we do not employ shills on our
machines”. There was a nice lady in the cage who would let
me go through the many boxes of obsolete chips they had
stored there. At one time the Holiday was known for its
high stakes games and Benny Binion got the idea for his
World Series of Poker after playing in a tournament there.
I thought their Bicentennial tokens were neat when they
came out in 1976. The $25 and $100 were real silver and
gold.
