Just a post showing 2 recent chip acquisitions and why I'm enjoying them. The chips are: Mullet Bay Casino $5, from St. Maarten and Pair of Shoes Casino £25, from London.
While I have had a SU condition Mullet Bay for years, this one, though slightly notched, is in perfect never-played condition. Cross-hatching to the edge, mirror-shiny Christy & Jones H&C mold, and a nicely centered inlay that's positioned almost perfectly at the 12'o'clock position on one side and the 6 o'clock position on the other side (coined aligned). The original colors are strong / not faded. I'm a big fan of C&J mold chips from the classic 60's and 70's, plus a fan of colorful Caribbean chips, so this one hit the right notes for me.
As to the Pair of Shoes chip, you gotta love the name! I assume named after the craps expression, calling for a 7 or 11 and adding "Baby needs a new pair of shoes!"** According to one description of the urban London townhouse that was the Pair of Shoes, it had an oversized pair of dice painted on the roof as a landmark to potential punters looking for some action.
Both chips were reasonably priced, not all that rare, though each is 50 years old +/-. I was glad to find and get them from one of CCA's long-time dealers. Hope you enjoy. There's lots of ways to collect what you like and have fun.
**Another favorite craps expression of mine, when calling for a 8: "Eight'r from Decatur, County Seat of Wise", referring to Decatur Texas of course (northwest of the DFW metroplex in farm / ranch country).
