Shown below are four very unusual Golden Nugget Atlantic City $5,000 Chip/Tokens. These Tokens were made to be used on a high limit table but they were never actually approved or used on the tables. I believe the casino eventually made $5,000 chips to use on the high limit games. The Tokens were later given out a souvenirs to employees and possibly to casino players.

From left to right:

Token with no Gold coating and Black Golden Nugget logo only on one side - Serial #1022 on edge.

Token with no Gold coating and Black Golden Nugget logo on both sides - Serial # 1982 on edge.

Completely finished Token with Gold coating and Black Golden Nugget logo on both sides - Serial # 1733 on edge.

Completely finished Token with Gold coating and Black Golden Nugget logo on both side - Serial # 1734 on edge.

I do not know why the first two Tokens are lacking the Black Golden Nugget logo and/or the Gold coating ?? Where these two Tokens altered (gold coating and Black logo removed) ?? Where these Tokens not completely finished for some reason ?? Does anyone else have any of these Tokens that are not completely finished ??

I assume it was a 3 step process to made these Tokens - 1. Strike the tokens. 2. Apply the Gold coating. 3. Apply the Black outline around the Golden Nugget logo.

What ever happened - these are interesting pieces of Atlantic City gaming history.
