The Colony Club opened in 1946 at 254 N Virginia St…former location of the California Club. The Colony closed on December 7, 1964, when Harold’s Club purchased the property.
In January of 1967 the new Colony Casino was licensed to open at 280 N Center Street, but was limited to only three 21 games and 20 slot machines due to Reno’s red-line gambling law which placed limitations on casinos that were located outside of the central downtown business area.
In June of 1967 the owners withdrew their license application.
In March of 1969 the Colony reopened as a bar with a few slot machines and a single 21 game. In 1971 the name was changed to the Colony Turf Club, which operated as a race and sports book until it closed in 1976.
