Regarding a recent post, when I lived in Reno in the late
sixties I would buy gas at the Regal station on Kietzke and
Second sts. You’d pay the attendant (I usually bought $3
worth) and he would give you the amount in tokens (copper
color a little larger than a silver dollar) which you would
insert into the pump to get the gas. There were no slots
and certainly no table games on the premises. I had some
of the chips but don’t recall how I got them. I always assumed
they were for purchasing gas. There was also a Regal station on
Kingsbury Grade just off Hwy 50 in South Lake Tahoe. I don’t
recall any other locations in Nevada.
