Part of a short set of chips - similar design for a $5 chip and I think a $100 chip also existed. The story, as told to me by the late Jim Noll, was that the casino would give these free-play chips to visiting entertainers and turn 'em loose on the casino floor. Most often the guests would lose and the casino would pocket the chips again.
