One thing that is getting lost here is

that there still will be a printed magazine.

It will be printed and mailed to members once a year, and it will have the same amount of new content as currently being produced (and all that new content will be available to members 4 x per year, electronically).

The economics of paper publications has changed dramatically over the last 10-15 years. Go to any newsstand (that you can still find). Do you see the same variety?

Do you see the same number of newspapers being delivered in your neighborhood? Why do you think that is?

I helped do some of the analysis on the costs for the club on the magazines. When had 3,000 members we were able to support the 4x per year printed magazine. (and it helped that mailing and printing costs were WAY lower in 2007) Now that we have less than 1/3 the members, the magazine is literally driving the club into bankruptcy.

Frankly as a member, I am more than a little disappointed that this wasn't addressed by club leadership over the last 10 years. It's an unpopular move, I get it. But at least leadership is now doing what is needed to address it.
