Re: Austin, Nevada grin Small town day 55

Austin was one of my favorite stops on my trips around
Nevada. I always enjoyed talking with Clara Williams at
Golden Club where she claimed to be the state’s oldest
21 dealer. She used chips from Mom’s, another place she
had across the street. Her son, who later turned the place
into an antique shop, also did time for cattle rustling. The
Austin Hotel was next door and had one 21 game I never
saw open. The bartender showed me the Palace Club,
Fallon, chips they used. Swede Anderson, who had owned
the Frontier Tavern, lived at the hotel and gave me some
chips he used. The hotel was later destroyed in a fire.
