Palmeri. I had an interesting meeting with him at his
house long after the joint had closed and he gave a $5
chip from the 93 club which was about the only decent
chip I ever got from Caliente. I remember the owner of
the Shamrock Club telling me about a crossroader
who was beating him pretty good on the crap table. He
told the guy he’d let him continue playing if he’d tell him
what he was doing. An expensive lesson I guess. Caliente,
which means Hot in Spanish, is famous for its hot springs.
There is (was) a motel there where you could soak your
aching bones.
