Frank Polk, the cowboy artist who carved all those one arm bandit
slot machines, also sculpted the solid gold rooster for John Ascuaga’s
Golden Rooster Room. It was confiscated by the Government for
containing too much gold. Had it been an object of art it would be OK
they claimed. There was a trial and Frank, who stuttered, convinced
them it was just that and Ascuaga got his Rooster back. Frank’s
biography, written in his own cowboy language is a riot.
