The original name for Luning was Deep Well. Silver and gold
were discovered around 1920 and there was an 18 room hotel
with a first class bar and restaurant dance hall on the second
floor. I would occasionally stop at the Longbranch bar but the
place smelled like a toilet. If you look closely at the sign you
can see the words Silver Bar. I’m surprised the place is still
standing. Everything is closed now and only a few dozen people
people still live there.
