Eureka is one of my favorite small towns. My favorite
person was Louie Gibellini. He had a 21 table that was
never open and I never got any chips. Vic Berincua was
a grouchy old guy who dug some Owl club chips out of
the basement anyway. We stayed at the Jackson House
which had previously been the Brown Hotel. The Nevada
Club, Gold Bar and Jim and Lorraine’s were other hangouts.
There’s a neat museum and opera house where Louie spent
his last night on earth listening to music.
