Small town day 27
() Pam, Another great Nevada small town, with some really fine gaming history. My 2 favorite casinos were the Commerical Hotel and Stockmen's . The bear " Whie King " and the Bull logos are some of the best designs ever put on casino chips.
About 25 years ago I went there specially looking for those chips. First I went to the Commerical Hotel looking for the $25 chips with the bear, It was about 9 Am and they had just opened 1 BJ table , no one was playing. I asked the dealer if I could buy some of the $25 chips. She called her boss, and he asked how many I wanted, I replied I would like to buy 30 or 40. He said he could not do that, but he said they had a box of a 100 in the cage that he would sell me. I checked my funds, and realized I only had about $900 in cash. I asked about a bank in town to cash a check, fortunately there was a Bank of America across the street. Went to the bank and asked to cash a check for 5K, they told me they didn't have that much cash on hand, but that they could get it, it would take about an hour. I went back to the Commercial, had breakfast, told them to call me when they had the cash. After about 1 1/2 hrs. I got the cash. Payed them $2500 for the box of $25's. Sadly it was not a box of new chips, but I sat down and picked out 40 of the best chips I could find. Returned the other 60 chips plus a $50 tip. And I proceeded across the parking lot and went to Stockmen's looking for some " BULL " chips
. I specifically wanted the $100 White chip with the Bull. Another major discussion with management to try to buy some chips. I wanted to buy 5 of the $100's that didn't happen. They finally sold me 3 $100's 8 $25's and 20 $5's plus a $50 tip. Winded up staying at Red Lion Casino for night, plus I had a nice run at the crap table. Turned out to be a very long interesting day.
