Pam, Great little town, spent quite a bit of time there years ago. Always enjoyed the Friday night buffet at the Exchange Club, we would fly in with one of our choppers, always caused a little excitement when we walked in with our grey and black flight suits with no insignia on them. We always told the folks we were mine workers. Always enjoyed the Burro Inn, I knew the owner pretty well, so he would always sell me any of his old chips for face value.
One of my best stories was at the Stagecoach Casino, It was about 25 years ago. I was on my way back home from Tahoe to Calif. I decided to stop for dinner at the Stagecoach. After dinner they had 1 BJ table open. I sat down to play, after about 3 hours I was the only player. So they let me play 3 hands, after another 2 hours and alot of Jack, I asked if I could play 5 hands, after a phone call they approved my request. within about 30 minutes I had all the chips they had on the table, plus they owed me money. They then informed me they were closing the table, they did not have access to the safe. They comped me a room. Next morning the owner called me, and asked me to join him for breakfast. We had a great conversation. He payed me off for my winnings. But I asked him for 5 $100 chips which he reluctantly sold me. We stayed friends for many years, but he always wanted to buy my $100 chips back, because he would never turn those $100 chips loose. Eventually he came to Las Vegas we had dinner and I gave him back the only 2 $100 chips I had left. So there are at least 3 $100 still floating out there in the wild. Yes I still have one.
