Re: Wells, Nevada grin Small town day 16

When I was poking around Wells in the 70s, looking for
chips, the Wagon Wheel, El Rancho, Trail 40, Pequop
Hotel (later Old West Inn) and Ranch House were all
open with live games. The Bulls Head Bar was recently
closed but a few of the places on Seventh street (Front)
we’re still open. I remember getting into the basement
of the Pequop where there were chips scattered all around.
The owner said take what you want. Later, K.G. Thompson
had a 21 game in his (KGs) bar that used Trail 40 chips.
He gave me some old chips that said Cards Trail 40. (His
partner was Otto Card). At one time or another almost all
the clubs in Wells were busted for cheating prompting the
Reno paper to call Wells the cheating Capitol of Nevada.
