I've been up to Virginia City a number of times, including once riding the V&T RR train up the hill. Along the way, there was a small herd of wild horses (see pic).

In VC, a sleepy burro that makes money for his owner as a tourist pic. Finally, an interesting 3-D piece showing how the "square set timber" mining method allowed a whole network of deep tunnels under VC -- though a lot of Tahoe area trees were harvested to provide the timber. Enjoy.
