Open up trading during the show hours. The hours for trading make it very difficult to find another person to trade with. My experience is that very few people are in the room or it’s empty. People are doing other things in the evening. I know some (many?) dealers will have a stroke but set up a trading area in the back of the main floor. God knows we have room for it. Limit the hours a single person can be in the area so no one just camps out. Have each trader donate a chip or two each time they go in and give away those chips to newbies in some way to get them interested or exposed to different types of chips. I have many traders and can never find anyone to meaningfully trade with. I have no interest in trying to sell chips or become a dealer. I’d love to trade with others during the show. Just not at 8pm when people are done with chips for the day and want to do other things in Las Vegas. While the dealers are essential to the hobby because they offer an undisputed, real, proven way for people to diversify and grow their collections, they are not the only way. (I like the dealers I buy from very much and I’m not taking a shot at anyone here). The club leadership should also be thinking about ways of making meaningful opportunities for sharing and trading with other like minded collectors/club members and not just continue the trade sessions as essentially an afterthought at the show. Anyway, just my thoughts.
