Wednesday/Thursday is best.
I bring a couple hundred unique traders in a binder, with multiples in a rack for backup.
It's very easy to start a potential trade, since everyone is there for the same reason! I've never needed a sign.
And I've not traded for high-value items, so valuing has been obvious.
