I went down to the Poker Palace tonight to see what has changed since the announcement of their impending closure. The only thing I saw out of place was that the players club desk was closed.Tables were open with their heavily worn chips. I played a little video poker and when I cashed out, I brought my ticket to the cage. While the cashier was counting out my cash, my beady eyes spotted a white hotstamped chip. I asked what that was, and was told a one dollar chip. I asked to buy 20 one dollar chips, and he brought up a stack, which were a mixed bag of the hot stamps and chipcos. I tipped him so he would remember me, and went out to my car, where I inspected them, and couldn’t find them listed or for sale anywhere. They definitely showed some wear, but were not in use on the 21 tables or poker tables. Don’t know what to make of them, but went back to the cage. This time I showed him the hotstamped chip and said I wanted 20 of these. Despite tipping him again and telling him what I wanted, he just came up with another stack of mixed ones and gave them to me as is. I just followed the chip collector’s motto: “Git what you want, and then git”. Don’t know the story behind these unknown chips. Fairly square edges but dirty. Anyone ever seen these in use? Anyway, wanted the chip community to know about these before the place closes.
