Supposedly is correct. A postal clerk at my local post office told me that when the mail is being processed, they do not pay attention to if it says "non-machinable" or if it has a butterfly stamp on it. They attempt to run all envelopes through the machinery and if it is too thick, the machinery kicks it out and it gets hand cancelled...
