Originally built as the Normandy Village in 1945, it was
opened in 1946 as the Tahoe Village. In 1947 owners
Harry Sherwood and “Russian” Louie Strauss got into
an argument over money and Strauss shot and killed
Sherwood but claimed self defense and was acquitted.
It was renamed Casino de Paris in 1952 and Oliver’s
Club in 1955. It was destroyed by fire purposely set for
training firefighters.
