I had a cheap but older gold hot stamp chip. I tried to clean carefully, but a small drop of water landed directly on part of the hot stamp and it became silver immediately (before I dried it). Luckily it was cheap and easily replaced, but I saw how easy it is for gold hot stamp to turn silver.
