Baseball cards and comic books have embraced slabbing and those hobbies are booming. There are many coins I would never buy unless slabbed. Imagine what a chip newbie thinks, hearing about restrikes, counterfeits, Borlands, and prototypes. Better to just skip this hobby and move on to something that has been verified by an expert. When one company tried slabbing chips a while back, my only gripe was that they didn’t know as much as we did! I saw chips marked genuine that I knew to be Borlands and coin center restrikes.
