Interesting development - with up to "3 downstate licenses available", it seems that Bally's would have a good shot at one of them. Any competition for the other licenses?
I don't really know NYC area geography, but looks like the only nearby existing competition is Resorts World NYC near the JFK airport. The Bally's Bronx location may be more of a complimentary situation, rather than competition? Sometimes, there's "safety in numbers", so to speak. Particularly regarding lobbying the politicians and negotiating taxes.
The upstate NY, Indian casinos and Atlantic City (which includes a big Bally's AC) may prefer NOT to have the competition, but it may grow the whole market, so everyone (casino owners, that is) wins?
