Please don’t misinterpret my intentions, I want nothing more than to improve the CCA.
My issue with has always been that there should only be one “Membership” and that is to the CCA. It was explained to me that the selling of membership for the MOGH was an effort to raise funds. That’s great. I was also told the use of the word “membership” was on purpose because people are more likely to give if they can add a title/number to their signature line. That’s all fine and good, but it now seems that it implies these memberships warrant some kind of benefits for the club as a whole, which it shouldn’t.
If this was a fundraising exercise, calling it something other than “member” helps cut the confusion and also doesn’t imply benefits it shouldn’t be giving. Calling it Friend/Donor/Patron/etc makes it more philanthropic instead of joining something.
Maybe something like different levels of donors:
$20 - Friend of the MoGH - shout out on the MoGH page
$50 - Gold Donor - shout out and t-shirt
$100 - Platinum Donor - shout out, t-shirt, CCA membership ($45 to CCA)
You could also have an add-on to the CCA sign up page where there is an option at the bottom to add a donation to the club’s “educational efforts”.
Just spitballin’.
