Just So You Know ...

Just so you know ... over the past 2 days, I have responded to about 100 requests to update membership information on the ChipGuide. Why so many requests? Here are the main reasons:

1) The ChipGuide needed online accounts for member services over 10 years ago. The CCA only needed online accounts recently with the implementation of the new message board. The efforts to have online accounts were separate, there was no coordination.
2) Membership information provided to the ChipGuide for registering an online account may have been incorrect, but we had no way to verify.
3) Membership information provided to the ChipGuide for registering an online account may have changed over the years, such as email address or CCA membership#, if there was a change from Regular to Life member.
4) Membership information provided to the CCA may have been incorrect or was coded incorrectly.

Those are the main reasons for all the update requests. Now there is coordination between the CCA and the ChipGuide. The ChipGuide has access to the current CCA membership database. The ChipGuide will use the CCA membership database when registering a new account and to verify membership status when logging on. The new ChipGuide processes will be automated, no human intervention will be required. I may move up implementation of the registration and logon processes ASAP, because we are being overwhelmed with requests. When completed users will be able to update their own information and reset their passwords.

Thanks for your understanding while these changes are being made. But things will be much better when this is all completed.
