I remember a bar in Carlin called the triple H that I was
told used to be the Humboldt Club. There was still a huge
homemade wooden Keno board still on the wall. It was
located at the end of the block of old clubs. (see photo)
It’s interesting that I once got a $1 Overland chip from
Jack Hyatt next door. Maybe his father had the Humboldt.
It’s also interesting that I got that black $5 Arodie chip
from Gus Knezevich at the Humboldt in Winnemucca. Hmm.
When I worked at the Overland in Reno a player told me
he used to work on the railroad and would play in the clubs
in Carlin when the train would stop to take on ice from the
huge ice fields there.
