They probably won't win COTY or beauty contest awards, as compared to inlay chips with works-of-art inlays, as collectors are accustomed to judging them.
However, the Fontainebleau casino operators likely view chips as a tool -- the hammer or nail equivalent for construction workers.
Those Abbiati-made chips with the "Holy Grail" technology imbedded are supposed to be advanced in tracking & accounting capabilities. Also advanced in security and anti-counterfeit measures.
They remind me of Bud Jones metal center chips in this respect -- the BJ chips didn't nick their plastic edges as bad as clay chips, and the metal inlay was pretty easy to stamp out. Good wearability but also pretty solid in the security/counterfeit-resistant category.
Fontainebleau ordered a primary rack, up to $100k value and a secondary rack from $1k to $100k. Plus roulettes too. A total order of over half a million chips. Just speculating here, but Abbiati may have given them "special" pricing, as Fontainebleau is a good testbed for showing performance in a real-life situation. Then pitch them to other LV Strip (or even non-Nevada / non-USA) casinos when they're ready to re-rack their chips.
JMHO.
