Here a little story about the El Rancho Vegas according to The late Carey Burke . Carey told me him and his co workers from Bonanza Airlines used to frequent the El Rancho after their day shift had ended . It was probably in the 1950’s . One faithful day Carey and his work buddies ventured into El Rancho vegas after getting off their shift . A middle aged man noticed their work clothes and knew they worked for his
Airlines he owned . He approached them and shook their hands and thanked all of them for working so hard for his airlines . He was dressed in normal clothes and looked like an ordinary person. Carey and his work colleagues was blown away having met the Billionaire essentric Howard Hughes . It was one of a few times they ran into Howard Hughes . Howard Hughes took residence at the pent house of the Desert inn . Carey was a wealth of Las Vegas knowledge as he had lived in Las Vegas from the early 1940’s . I really miss Carey ! Gone too soon !
