Louis Dotson owned the Hide-a-Way in the 70s. I first
met him when he was running a crap and 21 game at
the old A-1 casino in 1969 (later Jim’s). I would always
stop at the Hide-a-away when I was in town and see him.
Once he gave me some chips from the old Northern
Hotel in Ely that his father used to run. The old Ewing
chips at the Hide-a-away were all worn and tough to
find in good condition. The food was great there and
steak was their specialty. I haven’t been there in several
years but the place is now called the Black and White.
