As you're from So. Cal. too, you are probably familiar with the peacocks in Arcadia (and some parts of Pasadena too). I think some of them hopped the fence of the Arboretum and have had a comfy life around Arcadia for years. They'd be seen on people's roofs, leisurely walking in the middle of the road / stopping traffic, etc. as they were "protected". Noisy too!!

(I lived in Pasadena for several years in the 80's and saw them around, though not my immediate neighborhood, thank goodness.)

Then there's the flock of wild parrots around Pasadena too, but that's another story.
