Earlier this year, I wrote Garin to make sure he saw my magazine article about the Curacao Hilton chip I had with a Village Club stamp underneath. Garin spent years trying to find a Village Club chip for me and finally did, which led to me writing the article. At the time I wrote him, at the beginning of March, he let me know he had only 6-18 month to live. He didn't mention it, but it was clear he had cancer that was almost certainly inoperable at that point. I didn't want to divulge his private information, but I knew that he was dying soon. It is still very hard to take. I always found his posts very interesting and often witty. I will miss him.
