A few magazine points
Changing the size of the format or fewer pages saves some money, but most of the cost of the magazine is printer set-up.
Having seen the cost of what magazines cost on a subscription basis our magazine is worth at least $12 an issue. Maybe Life members would be willing to pay $25 a year to get the magazine? I would.
Our magazine is one of the few in the ANA that does not compensate the editor. The going rate is $1000 an issue.
I still have not got a definitive answer to my question if we go w/ an online magazine does it meet our 503c requirements or does it have to be printed? Based on David's statement of 50% of funding must be spent, where is the spending going to come from?
Would dropping the ads and go non-profit in mail delivery save any money.
More members taking out ads in the future would also improve the cost of printing. Or going to outside companies for ads.
Costs are never going to go down, postage keeps rising, prices for everything are going to be in flux for near future due to the economy being in turmoil.
Members have to going to have to make hard decision outside of club cost soon as well as in the club to have a balance sheet. The 20% of the club that does the work needs help from the other 80%, cash, ads, time, donations, ideas that they are willing to spend time and effort doing.
I for one will miss what we have and is willing to pay more for it.
