Not to also mention, a very good poker player.
It seemed like nearly every time we played in a tournament together, we both would cash but he would always finish a little higher up the paytable than I would. If I finished 8th, he would finish 7th. Etc.
I remember one final table at Lake Elsinore card room. This was pre-pandemic, when they had some very nice Deepstack tournaments each week. We both made the final table and I was short stacked and was dealt pocket aces. I shoved my short stack and only Fred called with his K-10. Ace on the flop, but of course a Q and a J on the turn and river and I was out lol.
He sure loved his wife, Kay. That was very evident in conversations. Now they will be together again..
