Just a quick note: this is a list of licensed card rooms. I've researched many of these establishments and I found that some had been closed for years by 1984. In some cases, proprietors would shut down their card rooms but continue paying the city or county licensing fee, knowing how difficult it could be to obtain a new license later. Local authorities forwarded licensing information to the state regardless of whether the venue was actually open.
