I don't remember what the year was (very bad memory) but many years ago I posted about how much money the club was losing every year. Later I was asked to become Treasurer by Doug Smith and managed to turn around the losses to at least a break even point. Well we are there again. Right now the club accounts will be drained in about 6 years at this rate (based on what was published in the new magazine). The MOGH is not much better at only 8 years. Attempts to stem the membership losses have not been successful. More than half of the clubs funds are now in the life member account (not really a problem to transfer more over to the general fund). I see in the new magazine that only 28% of members want to go to a digital magazine only. But the facts are that that is probably to only quick way to stem the yearly losses. One thing that may be necessary to consider is to have the convention at a place that is less expensive. I don't have all of the answers, maybe Barry will have some in June when he becomes the new President.
I am not mentioning this to throw rocks at anyone - everyone working at the club is a volunteer and many spend lots of hours every year. Like years ago, I just mention all of this as a warning that something needs to be done to stop the bleeding.
