When we talk about CIS vs CCD technology, that is the scanner rather than the printer. Only CIS scanner out there is the Epson stand alone which is pricey or at least more than I want to spend. All the rest of them, especially the 5 in 1 printers have a CCD chip in them which I'm sure you are aware of. IMHO, a good substitute for a CIS scanner which does a good job of capturing accurate colors, is your smart phone (I specifically use an iPhone.) Cheers!
