The Tropicana Hotel & Casino opened its doors on April 4, 1957 and has announced it will close down in preparation for demolition almost exactly 67 years later - on April 2, 2024.

The site is expected to be cleared by the end of the year to make room for a new Las Vegas stadium which will be the home of the Las Vegas Athletics beginning in 2028.

Like many of you, I'm sorry to see the Trop go... and to be honest, I’m not quite sure how they’re going to squeeze a state-of-the-art baseball stadium in there, but that’s Vegas for you – constantly demolishing, building, and reinventing itself.
