Shipping costs are killing a lot of commerce
Here's a tip, though: you pay about 30% more by taking to a postal clerk. You get the wholesale rate if you print your own postage at home. Up to 4 ounces will cost between about $3.75 and maybe $4.25 (hard to keep track when they adjust rates 2 or 3 times a year), and tracking is included in the price. That's still a lot, but not as much. I ship 10 to 15 small packages a week, so imagine how much I save my customers.
All the on-line services offer the discounted rate, from Ebay to Paypal to Pirate Ship, and many more. You generally don't have to pay for a subscription, either (Stamps.com has a monthly plan, though)
