CHIP TRADING THE SHORT VERSION
10 QUICK POINTS
1)Try to be an equal partner in the trade, do not make one party of the trade do all the work.
2)I try not to do lateral trading. In other words; I do not like to trade any chips I have one of for another chip I do not have any of; and I have it in my personal collection already.
3)Commons for commons, Current table chips for current table chips, new racks for new rack.
4)Denominations should be handled the same as commons, in most cases a $5 chip for a $5 chip.
5)The obsolete group…these have to be traded based on the Guides valuation. And/or the asking price.
6)It is always up to the two people that own the two chips that want to trade; to be satisfied with the trade. It is a trade when it is mutually acceptable to both parties.
7)I prefer to trade with CCA members, because of the honesty of this group is impeccable. I do and have made trades with non-members.
8)Try not to send severely nicked, damaged, or extremely dirty chips.
9)A trading policy, is usually never the same with any two chip collectors, try to briefly explain your trading policy up front as soon as possible, in order to circumvent any surprises.
10)Always let the trading partner know when you receive your chips.

In this case, I knew from fellow collector Jim Colbert that the new casino chips were on the tables, so that part was a no-brainer. All I had to do was drive down there and figure out how to get a decent quantity. A spare Memorial Day holiday, a tank full of gas . . . and I was on my way.
When I got to the newly-converted Jamul Casino (formerly Hollywood Casino San Diego), I stopped at a blackjack table and bought a few pink snappers. Easy. But for the dollar and five dollar chips . . . the craps table looked easier. I wander over, and was about to throw down $120, when the Pit Boss (or Gaming Manager) slid a small sign toward me: "Table Closed This Side." Huh?? How can half a craps table be closed? Aren't there proposition bets that would be cut out of the game?
I move to the busy side of the table and put down my money, and get a stack of $5 chips. Ask the dealer for some $1 chips instead of four extra fives. Okay, he hands them over. I start putting the chips into my pockets. So far, so good . . .
The Gaming Manager suddenly sprints around the table and comes up to me and says: "Excuse me, sir, I saw you putting those chips into your pockets. You're not allowed to do that."
Uh-oh . . . busted! Now what??? Had to think quick . . .
"Sorry," I replied, "I didn't know. Ummm, would you like them back?"
He glared at me, knowing as I did that he lacked the ability to refund my $120. Finally he muttered, "It's OK this time. Don't come back and do that again. You can buy chips at Guest Services."
This made no sense, but I ambled over to Guest Service (a/k/a The Cage and Player's Club rolled into one). I asked for a few chips. Sure enough, the cashier took my money and handed them over. That almost never works in a California Indian casino.
Anyhow, this casino run ended with me walking out with my trousers sagging with enough chips. Oh, to get to the elevator, I had to walk past the Gaming Manager again. But this time he paid me no attention, seemingly engrossed in running his Half Craps Game.

THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF MY FIRST VISITS TO BARONA’S WHEN THEY STILL HAD THE BIG TOP TENT CASINO.
EVEN WHILE THEY HAD THE BIG TOP THEY HAD MOVED THE POKER TWO TIMES TO MY KNOWLEDGE. IT FIRST WAS IN THE PIT WHEN I ARRIVED, AND LATER THEY MOVED IT UP BY THE NORTH DOOR ENTRANCE.
AT THIS TIME THEY HAD NOT CHANGED THEIR RACKS OUT FROM THE GREEN CHIPS WITH FOUR BLACK INSERTS. ON A SIDE NOTE, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BLIND POKER PLAYER IN A AN ACTUAL POKER GAME? WELL, WHITEY WAS LEGALLY BLIND, NOW HE COULD SEE WHAT HE HAD BY HOLDING THE TWO CARDS UP CLOSE TO HIS EYES, HOWEVER; EVER FLOP,TURN AND RIVER CARD HAD TO BE CALLED OUT TO WHITEY, AND REPEATED AS NEEDED. NO COMMENT. BACK TO THE HARVEST, I AM NOT SURE HOW THESE 5 MOLDS WERE RELEASED BUT I AM PRETTY SURE THE PAULEN’S WERE THE LAST ONES AND MOST PREVALENT ON THE TABLE WHILE I WAS THERE.
I SPENT MY TIME WHILE PLAYING AND WAITING ON WHITEY GOING THROUGH THE GREEN CHIPS LOOKING FOR: B&S, HHR, BAR-SUITS, OR TRI-CLUB’S. IT WAS LONG AGO, I DO NOT REMEMBER HOW MANY I WAS ABLE TO CULL OUT AT THAT TIME, NOT ENOUGH THOUGH.…REGGIE http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=CASDBC
