Re: Suggestions for my trip needed!

Going to witness an eclipse, frankly I just don't see it rofl, because it will be dark. I live next to Pocatello, in Chubbuck, so I am a loco vbg of the area.

So, you and an estimated half million people (what the local Idaho news media has been reporting) will be descending on a sleepy little farming community of 30,000. Be prepared to bring most all of your supplies from home as the local businesses will probably run out on the first day. Supposedly all Idaho Falls hotels are usually completely booked this time of year and now you have to add all of the eclipse tourists.

For local sites, there is the Fort Hall Casino (slots and bingo only) located just north of Pocatello on I15. A much small branch of the casino called Sage Hills is further north, just outside of Blackfoot.

When going to Yellowstone that time of year, don't expect to see much in the way of animals. The main thing you will see are buses full of tourists. For animal viewing, go to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in the city of West Yellowstone. I visit the park yearly and only see bears here or at Bear World compared to inside the park. Bear World is located, on the main road, between Idaho Falls and Rexburg. You get to drive through the Bear World park and see various animals including a lot of bears, all out in the open. I have had a Grizzly come right up to my SUV!

When you travel north of Wells NV, near the Idaho border is Jackpot, NV with a few casinos: Cactus Petes, Bartons, Four Jacks.
