Just put it in collection box at any street corner

If it is a light chip parcel (say, 10 ounces or so) I just drop it off in a collection box. I don't wait in line to hand it to a clerk. Never had a problem, in fact, told I could do so. I am referring to international mail with the customs forms CN 22 attached (it is double form; half is "glued"onto the parcel. the other half is perforated so the post office can pull it off for their files. On the envelope and forms, I write my telephone number and email address in case they want to get in touch with me (they never do). Be sure to sign and date the form.

I hardly ever wait in line at the post office. I use PayPal to print my shipping-postage labels. For domestic mail, I can even include and pay for insurance, and I believe that if the parcel is lost by the post office (from the collection box to the post office) and never scanned in, they will still take your word and honor the insurance.
