The Railroad Saloon dating to 1869, Old Corner, and Timmons
originally occupied the site of the Gem. After a 1905 fire the
Central bar was built (see PC) and eventually became the Gem.
It was a popular locals bar from the 50s-70s. It was torn down
to make way for a hotel casino that was never built. I patronized
the Gem on my trips to Winnemucca in the 70s and remember
a poker table and a few slots.
