I think you covered most of the possible solutions, which we would have all liked to know, 20 years ago. I think in my case, keeping these in a closed plastic bag, all together, mixed types and plastics and compositions, led them to chemically destroy themselves. Some in a nice felt case, didn't do much better, but surly not as bad.
If anyone is interested in my entire dice collection, please email me. There are some that can be rescued and some that will be wilted and warped, forever.
