I see Chip Guide says the 1984, TK Specialty, Horseshoe
mold,
Miner chips were used at Fernley Nugget, 1130 E. Main St. This
place only opened in 2008 (not 1982). I’ve always thought these
chips were meant for the original Fernley Nugget at 25 E. Main St.
a place I used to frequent in the 70s. I remember a 21 table in there
but it was covered over and used as a regular table. I don’t believe it
ever opened and I think think the place closed well before 1984.
How the chips came to be is a little puzzling. All I know is that they
were never used at the present Nugget. By the way the 21 and
roulette tables have have been removed due to a shortage of dealers.
Only three poker remain for occasional tournaments and the manager
told me today that special chips are used for that. Photo shows the
the old Nugget building which is now a tattoo parlor.
