Great photos...

I think the "closing date" was later than you posted. I got out of the Army in June 1962 and played at that Harrah's location. It was my first date with my wife, Carol. We lived in Pollock Pines so it was only a 45 minute drive. We took $20 each to play the Nickel slots, then have dinner and drive back home. The Opening date of the bigger casino across the street was in 1959 but the little place by Harvey's continued to be open in the summer at least through 1962. I have a silver cigarette case from the Grand Opening of the South Shore Room dated December 1959. Red Skelton was the featured star. They had a lot of great talent at the South Shore Room over the years - even Elvis appeared there. What a bargain it was to go to the late show with a three drink minimum.

Red Skelton silver case. I assume these were given to special guests because I don't think they had a gift shop that early.

Nat King Cole autographed post card from Harrah's Tahoe... Just look at the line up of entertainers - those were the good old days.
