As a geology major, to me this looks like a continental to oceanic converging plate boundary undergoing the process of subduction. Western South America, Indonesia, Phillipines, are just a few of the many areas undergoing this tectonic process. Probably completely unrelated but I thought I'd let you know anyway. Good luck!
