Those "columnar cacti" are called saguaro and...

they can grow to a height of 66 feet! (40 feet is most common.)

They are only found in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and Mexico, with only 30 known, wild examples, growing in California. They are protected and if transplanted (by permit only), they MUST be planted facing the same direction from which they were moved.
