I agree with Ed on a lot of his points: 2 columns makes it easier to read. White background is clearest, but if colored don't make it textured. I like the grey on pages 6/7, but I would suggest you keep it solid and not fade to white toward the bottom of the page.

And I would go with san-serif font to make it easier to read. I would avoid the font you used in the Message From the Editor section, there is something hard to read about it.
